Kingston LGBT Forum runs an intergenerational letter writing project which aims to connect older and younger LGBTQ+ people in Kingston, to support each other and to build and strengthen community.  The project is funded by METRO Charity for a period of 6 months, until the end of June 2021.

What does the project do?

The project brings together older and younger LGBT+ people in pairs to connect, share experiences and learn about themselves and each other, through regular letter writing.

People who wish to participate fill out a short questionnaire which helps us match them with a writing partner, according to their interests and writing preferences.  Partners are introduced to each other using this information, and sent a writing pack to get things started.  We have set up a project PO Box so that participants can decide whether they wish to share their home or postal address with each other, or keep this information private.

Who can take part?

The project is open to all LGBTQ+ people in Kingston. LGBTQ+ people from outside of Kingston are also welcome to get involved.

What sort of things can I write about?

We suggest you start by responding to the introduction we send you about your writing partner, and say a bit more about yourself, your interests and why you are taking part in the project.  It can take a little time to build up a relationship, and writing will almost certainly become easier as you get to know each other.

How to get involved

If you would like to take part, please read the project guidelines, and then complete this form. You will then be contacted by the project coordinator who will pair you up with a writing partner.
