Before you take part in the project, we would like you to agree to abide by our code of conduct.

  1. Be reliable. It is important that, if you agree to meet another participant, you turn up and are on time
  2. Do not share any contact details unless you feel comfortable doing so, and do not share nor ask for any contact details in the first meeting
  3. If you choose to take things offline, always meet in public places that have been mutually agreed
  4. Complete the questionnaires that the project coordinator may send to you
  5. Do not touch any other participant or volunteer without their consent
  6. Always exercise your own judgement before acting on any advice or recommendations that other participants may offer you
  7. Contact the project coordinator about any problems you are experiencing with the project
  8. Manage your expectations. The project is not designed to provide you with all the answers to any problems you may be facing. Instead it is about listening and sharing experiences
  9. Do not do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable
  10. Treat all participants equally: there is no mentor/mentee relationship here
  11. Be open minded: you’re more likely to benefit if you’re willing to hear others’ points of view
  12. Do not intimidate, threaten, harass, use undue influence, physical force, or verbal abuse, or make unwarranted promises of benefits to other participants
  13. Do not discriminate against any participant or volunteer on the basis of their ethnicity, race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, HIV status, age, religion, national origin, marital status, or mental or physical ability
  14. Respect the privacy and confidentiality of other participants unless you believe there is an immediate danger to you, them or anyone else
